Having posted a course on how to set up the AppDevPack with the fantastic Mr. Graham Acres leads to more and more questions and help requests. One aspect that keep re-occurring a lot is some confusion on SSL Certificates and which one is used by which part of system and has what requirements.

NSL Support for Notes 11.0.1 on Citrix

By Daniel Nashed | 8/7/20 1:08 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Andi Kress

NSL (Notes Shared Login) uses Windows Data Protection API (DP-API) to protect the internal long&secure password set to the Notes.ID when NSL is enabled. In earlier releases the DP API was binding the encrypted data to the machine and it could not roam. It's not 100% clear when this changed, but with current Windows version taking the encrypted file to another machine with a windows roaming profile will work.

Updated: C-API - NIFReadEntries with SIGNAL_MORE_TO_DO in combination with NIFFindByName

By Daniel Nashed | 8/7/20 1:07 AM | Development - Notes / Domino | Added by Andi Kress

Yesterday I have been debugging an application issue in my sync tool. It was a very strange behavior which finally lead me to the following. This is only interesting for my C-API development friends in the community and if you use NIFReadEntries for more than 16351 entries you should check your application.

HCL Sametime 11 & SSO via Sametime Embedded Client in Notes Basic Client

By Milan Matejic | 7/24/20 1:42 AM | Infrastructure - Sametime | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

On a customer site I had to make sure that users are able to authenticate via HCL Sametime Embedded Clients, inside of HCL Notes 9.0.1 Basic Client, using Domino SSO (LTPA). After installing the HCL Sametime 11 Community Server, and applying the standard configuration, the login via Domino SSO for Sametime embedded clients inside of HCL Notes standard or eclipse clients worked without any issues. But we had to make some configuration changes in the “sametime.ini” file to make the same work for ST Embedded clients inside the HCL Notes basic clients.

HCL Notes Three Click Support

By John Oldenburger | 7/23/20 3:22 AM | Infrastructure - Notes / Domino | Added by Roberto Boccadoro

In my previous blog post, HCL Notes SwiftFile, I started by briefly describing some new functionalities in HCL Notes 11. Some of these functionalities need to be specifically enabled through settings in the preferences or by adding new parameters in the notes.ini file. A new level of security in HCL Notes 11 can be added using the new Three Click Support functionality. This functionality must be enabled through a notes.ini setting. Below is a brief description of this functionality. Three click support adds a level of security when a user opens an attachment within an email. The Open-Save-View dialog box still appears after a user double clicks an attachment. When three click support is enabled the user will then be prompted to confirm the action they have chosen in a second message box.

Due to an issue with the JVM installed with Domino V11.0.1, Let's Encrypt 4 Domino a.k.a LE4D throws an error, when the tool tries to import the new / renewed certificate into the Domino keyring file. It's only an issue when running the Domino server on Windows.

Going inline

I have spent many years working deep within the Notes Indexing Facility (NIF). I’m not done, because there is more to be done and harvested from the rich functionality well-bundled from day one by the earliest Domino developers. It can be a challenging area because so much variety of data flows through the code and…
